The Law of Attraction has been around from when mankind developed the abilities to think and understand. It has been a part of movements, books have been written about it, and lifestyles built around it.
The power of the Law of Attraction is undeniable, and recent advances in the study of quantum physics are suddenly underpinning many of the principles many once considered speculative.
In fact, the results of quantum physics studies are promising to rewrite much of what we believed true and factual in the world we live in! The coming years promise to be HUGELY exciting, as this relatively new field of scientific endeavor delivers more and more evidence of things that previously belonged in the spiritual realm.
One really cannot afford not to know, or at the very least be aware of this phenomenal law of the universe. Like gravity, it is ALWAYS in effect, whether you believe it exists or not. It forms and shapes your life every single day.
The great news is, this law is completely under your control. It has always been. You’ve maybe just never understood how to harness it.
Your essential reading list
The publication of the runaway bestseller, The Secret, brought the Law of Attraction to mainstream attention in 2006. However, before Rhonda Byrne published this book, many other works were in circulation – and she’d used many of them as part of her research.
In this essential reading list, we’ll look at some of the earlier publications – books that really will give you a fantastic background to the Law of Attraction, and then look at some of the books that you can comfortably use as Law of Attraction handbooks in your daily life.
This list will aim to bring you the best of what is available. All the titles are reputable, and all their authors are experts.
1. The Science of Getting Rich
The Science of Getting Rich, written by Wallace Wattles in 1910 (you read that right!) is one of the original works about harnessing the Law of Attraction in individual lives.
The book is really easy to read and is divided into 17 short and poignant chapters that are all about overcoming mental barriers and use the Law of Attraction to create wealth.
The chapter headings themselves make for fascinating reading, simply because they spell out the simplicity of Wallace’s method.
- Preface
- The Right to Be Rich
- There is A Science of Getting Rich
- Is Opportunity Monopolized?
- The First Principle in The Science of Getting Rich
- Increasing Life
- How Riches Come to You
- Gratitude
- Thinking in the Certain Way
- How to Use the Will
- Further Use of the Will
- Acting in the Certain Way
- Efficient Action
- Getting into the Right Business
- The Impression of Increase
- The Advancing Man
- Some Cautions, and Concluding Observations
- Summary of the Science of Getting Rich
I’ve included these chapter headings because they will give you a good idea of what the book is about. And they also show how, even though the book is 111 years old now, the thoughts still remain relevant and VERY much in line with the modern books about techniques of using the Law of Attraction in your daily life.
I highly recommend this book – regardless of its age – as a wonderful introduction to and foundation for anyone embarking on a journey to bring the Law of Attraction under their conscious control.
2. The Master Key System
Another oldie-but-goodie, this time dating back to 1912. And boy, does this book have a pedigree! It was one of the major sources of inspiration behind Rhonda Byrne’s 2006 film, The Secret. And, believe it or not, this book is also said to be the inspiration behind Bill Gates’ decision to leave Harvard and start Microsoft.
It doesn’t need much stronger credentials than that, does it?!
The Master Key System was originally offered as a course-by-mail.
This book will give you a good and proper lift. It’s written as a series of 24 lessons in which the author, Charles Haanel chats about the whole kaboodle – from feeling healthy to becoming wealthy. It teaches the reader how to use precise logic, and consistent common sense. And, above all, it shows how to use the Law of Attraction to get what we want in life.
Just remember, it wasn’t called the Law of Attraction back then.
3. Think and Grow Rich
Back in 1937, Napoleon Hill published this book. Remember, 1937 was the height of the Great Depression.
Napoleon Hill said the book was inspired by a conversation with business magnate Andrew Carnegie.
This book made such an impact that it has never been out of print. Revised editions see the light every few years, and it is a must for the reading list of any Law of Attraction practitioner, whether you’re new to the material, or old hat.
Think and Grow Rich really is the grandpa of popular, mainstream motivational literature. Up until its publication, writers pussyfooted around difficult questions. It was a no-no. But Napoleon Hill broke the mold.
He boldly asked the question: What makes a winner. And then proceeded to write this book about just that!
For research, Napoleon Hill drew on stories and anecdotes of Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, and a whole host of other successful millionaires of the era. He tries to find what they have in common – the factors that made them a success – and then shows how every man and woman can cultivate those in themselves.
A must-read – really!
4. The Secret
This book by Rhonda Byrne is really what brought mainstream attention to the Law of Attraction. The book was discussed around dinner tables, and the book was in many handbags at work, ready for a quick peak during a lunch break.
Over the years, The Secret has developed a cult following, both as a book, a movie, and a way of life. Many, many success stories come with the title, and it really is one of those pillars on your Law of Attraction reading list.
The Secret really rests on the three cornerstones of the Law of Attraction – Ask, Believe, Receive. Those are also mentioned in the Bible in Matthew 21:22.
The book explains how the Law of Attraction responds to those three, and how it really can be harnessed to turn lives around.
Rhonda Byrne’s life was turned around by Wallace Wattles’ book, The Science of Getting Rich, which we reviewed first in this article, btw!
5. Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires
This is a fascinating, comprehensive book by equally fascinating authors – Esther and Jerry Hicks. To my mind, this is probably the Law of Attraction authority work.
The book is based on the teachings of Abraham, a non-physical entity channelled by Esther. It touches on the use of the Law of Attraction to impact EVERY part of your life:
- Relationships
- Health
- Finances
- Career
It’s all about using the Law to manifest your desires so you can live the joyous and fulfilling life you deserve.
There’s only room for this one book by Esther and Jerry in this review – and we’ve chosen the most poignant one. But their entire bibliography is worth a gander. It’s VAST and covers everything you ever wanted to know about the Law of Attraction.
6. Jack Canfield’s Key to Living the Law of Attraction
Remember Chicken Soup for the Soul? Of course, you do. Jack Canfield, the author of Jack Canfield’s Key to Living the Law of Attraction, was one of the co-creators of the Chicken Soup series. He has sold MILLIONS of books, simply because he really knows what he’s talking about.
Jack’s writing career stretches back decades. He understands the human psyche, he understands the Law of Attraction like few others, and he understands how to bring those two together.
Like Esther and Jerry Hicks, Jack Canfield covers all areas of life:
- Career
- Creative pursuits
- Health
- Prosperity
- Relationships
His teachings are predominantly about how the Law of Attraction works in your life, regardless of whether you consciously harness it or not.
It’s about how to be proactive in the creation of your life and destiny, how to make the changes that will turn you into a magnet for the Law of Attraction, and how to use your intelligent energy for life-changing results.
I love recommending Jack’s books. They’re real, they’re life-changing, and they’re to the point.
7. The Power of Your Subconscious Mind
We’re back in the 60s with this book – 1963, in fact. The author, Dr. Joseph Murphy wrote, taught counseled, and lectured to tens of thousands of people throughout a career spanning nearly half a century.
The Power of Your Subconscious Mind has been a consistent bestseller ever since it was first published. And it’s also one of the most beloved and brilliant self-help and spiritual books of all time.
The book is all about using the Law of Attraction to:
- Heal yourself
- Banish your fears
- Sleep better
- Have better relationships
- Feel happier.
The techniques taught in the book are simple enough for anyone to understand and practice, and above all, the results come quickly and they keep on coming!
Dr. Joseph Murphy’s point of departure (proven correct many times over) is that all the events that take place in your life, are really the result of the workings of your conscious mind, your subconscious mind, and the way the two work together.
His destiny-changing techniques are all about focussing and redirecting this incredible power that’s locked up in your subconscious mind and bringing it under conscious control.
The Power of Your Subconscious Mind has opened worlds of success, prosperity, happiness, and peace for millions of readers over the decades.
8. The Secret Law of Attraction: Master the Power of Intention
This book by Katherine Hurst will introduce you to dozens of exercises and actions you can do and take immediately to put the Law of Attraction to work in your life. And, they’re all about mastering one of the most important elements of the Law of Attraction: Intention. Without knowledge of how to master intention, you’re lost.
This book does a couple of things, and it does them really well:
- Helps you to get a full and proper understanding of what the Law of Attraction really is
- Helps you to understand new studies on geniting memory and the incredible power of the “heart”
- Helps you to identify the things that hold you back from success
- Shows you how to use powerful methods like affirmation, dream boarding, and creative visualization to speed up your manifestation
- And it explores a host of advanced methods that will stand you in good stead in your future work with the Law of Attraction
Again, this is one of those books you should have on your shelf. It’s a fresh and different take on the material, and Katherine Hurst’s take on many of the aspects of the Law of Attraction is top-notch!
9. E-Squared: Nine Do-It-Yourself Energy Experiments That Prove Your Thoughts Create Your Reality
Now here’s a book that un-doubts the doubters! Nothing like proof to silence the critics is there?!
And that’s EXACTLY what Pam Grout, the author, sets out to do in this book. If I say so myself, this work is WAYYY overdue!
E-Squared is really some kind of lab manual. It’s filled with elementary experiments you can do yourself to prove ONCE AND FOR ALL that reality, ALL of reality is malleable.
You think I’m full of BS? Read it for yourself! It’s astonishing.
It shows that consciousness shapes your life, rather than matter.
There are nine experiments in the book, each designed to work over 48 hours. It will prove to you, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that there really is a loving, fun-loving hand behind everything. And that it’s ALWAYS ready to help you along.
Again – I thought CAREFULLY before I used the word “prove”. But I use it with gay abandon!
More than that, Pam Grout also proves with these experiments that the Force behind everything is completely dependable. So, like Newton’s laws of physics, there’s NOTHING random here.
For years, deep inside, every practitioner and person of faith has hoped and prayed that the spiritual principles they believe in and practice, are true.
Now you can actually know. And know completely. They ARE!
Here is the proof that you can expect from this book:
- There is an invisible field of infinite possibilities
- Every day, you impact this field, and you also draw from it in line with your beliefs and expectations
- You, too, are nothing more than a field of energy
- Whatever you focus on, expands
- Whatever you don’t focus on, contracts
- You have UNLIMITED and ACCURATE guidance available to you from this field
- YOUR thoughts and YOUR consciousness impact matter
- Your thoughts and your consciousness is the “backbone” of your health
- You are absolutely connected to absolutely everyone and absolutely everything in the Universe
- The Universe is really accommodating, abundant, and completely limitless
This book should not only be prescribed reading for Law of Attraction practitioners. It should be for EVERYBODY! It is a paradigm-shifter of NOTE!
10. Wishes Fulfilled: Mastering the Art of Manifesting
No Law of Attraction reading list would be even nearly complete if it didn’t include something from the prolific pen of Dr. Wayne Dyer.
Wayne dedicates this book to your personal mastery of the art of realizing all you desire in your life. And to the greatest gift you received at birth – your imagination.
We all take our imaginations for granted without standing still to consider the immense power of this tool. Remember, everything that you see around you started in the imagination – EVERYTHING!
Wishes fulfilled is really a voyage of discovery – a journey into the deep and vast manifesting powers that are locked up inside you. It is a guide to life, that will help you to see where and how you can and should use the Law of Attraction to create something new, and create something better in place of that which no longer serves you.
Wayne also breaks new ground here – in that he explores the region of the highest self for the first time in his work. And, he proves at the hand of this, that all things are always possible.
Dr. Wayne Dyer is a prolific author – and his life story shows that he lives what he writes. As Jack Canfield, he’s an author that should be ready by everyone, not only those that are interested in living with the Law of Attraction.
His books are easy to read, they hit the mark every time, and they’re as deep as you want them to be. If you’re interested in easy and peaceful bedtime reading, they’ll do just fine. But that same book can take you on a journey that will plum depths inside yourself you never thought possible.
It all depends on your mood and mindset.
The importance of reading about the Law of Attraction
Like with everything else, it pays to learn from the journeys of others. So much has been written about the Law of Attraction, that you’ll never be at a loss for learning material, no matter where you find yourself on life’s journey.
The biggest plus of a reading list like this one is that you can save yourself endless hours of trying and failing on your own. These authors did all the heavy lifting for you. Follow their advice, listen to their lessons, and you’ll be just fine.
Happy manifesting!!
